Martin Essl is a digital and mobile enthusiast with a passion for mobility. Coming from the telecommunications world with previous experiences at Siemens, Sony Ericsson, and Twitter, he joined Uber in 2015. After leading their Mobile Business Development & Partnerships team in San Francisco, he is now based in Vienna to head their business in Austria.

Having lived and worked in China, the US and in Europe, he understands the complexities of cities and the challenges they face with regards to mobility. Seeing the power of today’s technology, he is absolutely thrilled to work in a business that can change people’s lives and improve the cities we live in. Martin is a native Austrian from Steiermark, father of three girls (and a dog), and – despite his affiliation with Uber – a heavy and enthusiastic user of Vienna’s public transportation system!
